First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course

approx. 17 hours - $225

This course will train instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Adult, Child & Infant CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the injury-control modules that include Ergonomics, Back Injury Prevention, Stress Management, Slips, Trips & Falls, Your Heart Matters and Workplace Violence Awareness.

Students are required to:

  • Fundamentals of Instructor Training (included)
  • Pass pre-course testing in Adult, Child & Infant CPR, First Aid and AED
  • Attend and participate during all course sessions;
  • Successfully complete three practice-teaching assignments; and
  • Pass the final instructor written exam with a score of 80% or higher.

First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Authorization is valid for 2 calendar years. All authorizations expire on December 31. Initial authorization may be less or more depending on when training is completed.

Water Safety Instructor

Train instructor candidates to teach the Infant and Preschool Aquatic Program; the seven levels of the Learn to Swim Program; the Community Water Safety and Water Safety Instructor Aide courses; and eligible individuals, the Safety Training for Swim Coaches course.

Lifeguarding Instructor

To train instructor candidates to teach Lifeguard Training (including First Aid), CPR for the Professional Rescuer (ECC 2000), AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety and Basic Water Rescue.
