Note: We are currently scheduling
volunteers to help at our local office in Tontitown during this busy period
of time. Our needs include people to answer phones, enter data into
spreadsheets, and work on scheduling volunteers for other events.

available now) for those interested in volunteering with our chapter.

Position

Position Description
|
|
Disaster Action Team
|
Disaster
Action Team (DAT) members functions as an integral part of the chapter's
response by responding to local disasters. Members often are the chapter's first
on scene contact with both the disaster victims as well as other emergency
responders. At the scene Disaster Action Team members; 1) make a rapid
appraisal of the total situation, 2) determine the immediate need for
services and support beyond the Team's capabilities, 3) meet the immediate
basic human needs of the disaster victims - such as food, clothing,
shelter, emergency health and mental health services, and 4) open temporary
shelters, if needed. Volunteers are needed both during the daytime as well
as after hours. Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication
skills, ability to handle confidential information, good listening skills,
and the ability to work compassionately with people from all backgrounds.
After completing Volunteer Orientation you will be required to complete at
least 4 other course to become fully qualified. Time Commitment: Flexible
but prefer a one year commitment on a rotating team.

Emergency Services Volunteer
|
This position
will provide office support for the Emergency Services department. The
volunteer will assist with a variety of tasks; preparing disaster
preparedness information, data entry, assist with follow up casework to
ensure all disaster caused need(s) have been met, maintain and update
files, maintain disaster kits, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Strong verbal and communication skills, comfortable with a
computer, friendly and professional, ability to handle confidential
information. Additional training may be required for certain tasks. Time
Commitment: Flexible - Prefer set schedule during business hours.

Health and Safety Instructor
|
American
Red Cross classes are taught by a group of dedicated, professional
instructors. Health and Safety Services is looking for volunteers
interested in becoming an American Red Cross Instructor in one of the
following areas: First Aid, Adult/Child/Infant CPR, HIV/Aids, Babysitting,
Pet First Aid, and CPR/AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Lifeguarding,
or Water Safety. Teach classes for the Red Cross at various businesses or
community sites. Qualifications: Strong verbal and communication skills,
friendly and professional, ability to teach adults and willingness to
complete required Instructor training. Time Commitment: Willingness to
teach a minimum 4 classes per year.

Office Assistance
|
The
volunteer in this position will welcome and provide information to
visitors, students coming into the chapter for classes and meetings.
Responsibilities include: Greeting visitors, answering phones, providing
information on where meetings and classes are being held, registering
people for classes, responding to frequently asked questions, checking
out/in equipment, and possible clerical tasks or data entry.
Qualifications: friendly, professional, strong verbal and communication
skills, ability to work with people from all backgrounds. Time Commitment:
Flexible - Prefer set schedule during business hours.

Special Event Committee Member
|
Volunteers
in this position can choose from several special events to assist. Special
events may include; Celebration of Heroes, golf tournaments, softball
tournaments, and fundraisers during times of disasters. Volunteers are
needed with a variety of tasks; publicity, sponsorship, décor, silent
auction, and more depending on the event.
